Driving Despite Mobility Impairment
These days, a person’s mobility impairment is not a reason enough for him to limit himself and avoid activities that are commonly perceived as a thing only for physically able individuals. This is because despite the disability, one can still carry out some activities with ease. And one of those is driving.
As long as an individual still possesses the function of his arms, he should be able to drive with the help of certain modifications that are installed in the car. For instance, hand-operated controls can be an alteration that should be set up in a physically challenged person’s vehicle. These devices are of great assistance to him when he has to make crucial turns when driving. Furthermore, they can also help him when he needs to accelerate or put his car to a stop. It might be a bit difficult at first for a mobility impaired person to familiarise himself in using these tools. In time, however, he can grow used to it as long as he will never give up mastering the controls.
